#2474: Ottogi Ppushu Ppushu Noodle Snack Chilli Cheese Flavor

#2474: Ottogi Ppushu Ppushu Noodle Snack Chilli Cheese Flavor - South Korea - The Ramen Rater - instant noodle snack

Last moth I was looking for a specific variety at a local Korean grocery called Boo Han Market in Edmonds, Washington. Much to my chagrin, they have changed their instant noodle section! It used to be way in the back and kind of lackluster. Now it’s right up front and they’ve got an even better selection than before. That’s where I found this interesting instant noodle snack.

First, chilli cheese crunchy instant noodles sounds pretty good – but coming from South Korea? Hey – why not. What I find actually quite odd is how our little Mexican friend above looks as though he has an angry look on his face while he wields the pepper issuing from his crotch. It reminds me of an album cover – well, I’ll just show you.

See what I mean? Shaft’s got his whacking stick at the ready. I tell you what though – this is a pretty badass album. In fact, I’ll see if I can find it on YouTube and slap it in at the bottom. Perhaps the movie – it’s a good movie too. Anyways, let’s check out this South Korean chilli cheese flavor instant noodle snack!

Take out seasoning sachet and sprinkle into pack. Shake, shake, shake. Finally, open bag and enjoy like a bag of chips!

Finished (click to enlarge). The noodle chunks are nice and crunchy and very snackable. Indeed, they aren’t too hard that they’ll break your teeth by any means. The taste is a spicy chilli cheese – certainly that pepper he’s angrily wielding is a sign he means business. Pretty good stuff. For an instant noodle snack, I’ll give this one 4.25 out of 5.0 stars. #1418: Ottogi Ppushu Ppushu Noodle Snack Grilled Chicken Flavor

Sweet – another noodle snack! I think we’re pretty close to an annual noodle snack top ten list soon – just trying to figure out a good time to release it… Halloween perhaps? Superbowl time? If you have an idea, shoot me a comment below! Anyways, here’s another one of Ottogi’s Ppushu Ppushu line. This is the first one I’ve seen that’s chicken flavored that I can remember from them. Let”s have a look!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, smash the noodles within the bag. Open bag and take out seasoning sachet. Sprinkle sachet contents into bag and re-close. Shake to distribute flavoring powder. Eat!

Seasoning powder sachet.

A very light powder.

Finished (click image to enlarge). The noodles are a smaller gauge than Korean ramyun, and very light and crunchy. The flavoring is a little mystifying; it doesn’t make me think of chicken. It has a salty element, and an acidic element which is a little strange. Then a slightly bitter chemical flavor I didn’t like. For a snack, I’m giving this one 1.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 645175560050.

Yep – they make commercials for these noodles with KPop stars! here’s one for Ottogi Ppushu Ppushu.

#463: Ottogi Ppushu Ppushu Barbecue Flavor Instant Snack

Here’s yet another variety of Ottogi’s Ppushu Ppushu super powered smash snack. This one’s barbecue flavor – wonder how this one will be…

Here’s how I prepare this stuff – first off, the smashing…

You end up with a bowl of smashed noodles. Simple!

You also have a single packet of seasoning. This is for sprinkling on the noodles. I used to smash the noodles, put the seasoning in the bag and then shake it up, but my smashing of the noodles causes the bag to explode so I’ve decided to just do it manually.

So sprinkle, sprinkle and we’re done. I find doing it this way allows the stuff to coat more evenly. Anyways yeah not much mental strain here! It’s got an okay barbecue-like flavor and the noodles are crunchy. It’s not bad but I feel like a bad person eating this since I mean hey, this is extreme lazy food. I guess smashing the noodles is a way to exercise? Not sure. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. Find it here.

#239: Ottogi Ppushu Ppushu Sweet & Sour Flavor Instant Snack

My lovely lady Kit over at www.supertastysnacks.com reviewed this one last night and I thought I should review it too as all it is really is a snack but it is uncooked ramen. So let’s give it a try!

A packet of flavoring. You smash up the noodle block inside the bag, open the bag, sprinkle this one top and then shake to spread the taste around.

Click image to enlarge. I agree with Kit’s observations: It does taste like tomato soup and it’s spicy.. Sweet and sour? Not hardly. In fact, this tasted more like uncooked Jin Ramyun than anything. It wasn’t too bad but wasn’t anything I found to be earth shattering. Felt kind of short changed really. 1.75 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Did not feel short changed on the commercial though – hell yeah they’re all about it very bizarre.
