If you’re wondering, this is budae jjigae – also known as troop stew. It’s what happens when army foods like beanie weenie and macaroni meet Korean flavors. I decided on this one today as I’ve got something neat to try with it – fish skin! I’ve never tried the snack before, but I did last night and it’s really quite good! This particular variety of fish skin is made from pollock. Let’s check it out!

An instant noodle block.

A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.

A sachet of vegetables.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Korean friied pollock skin, SPAM, salami, hot dog, shells and cheese, pepper thread, scallion, and sesame seed. Noodle is great – perfect. The broth is like their old K-Army Stew – a huge favorite of mine. Lots of fish cake and other bits – just wonderful! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. As for the fish skin, it’s light, crisp, and has a nice balance of salty and sweet. Really loved it – 5.0 out of 5.0 stars as a garnish and a snack! UPC bar code 031146042098.
Amazon – Check out the fish skin I used on this one – it’s crisp and savory stuff – really liked it!
