#2616: Gookmul Special Edition Lobster Flavor Potato Instant Noodles

#2616: Gookmul Special Edition Lobster Flavor Potato Instant Noodles - Soiuth Korea - The Ramen Rater

I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this one for a while and thanks to Jay H. for sending it my way from Taiwan, I’ve got one! These are from South Korea, but they’re very popular in Southeast Asia currently and very curious as to why.

I’ve never heard of Gookmul before – I perused their site and it looks like Gookmul makes some interesting varieties. One of them has a picture of a mouth on the package and you could put the package up to your face as kind of a mask which is interesting. Anyways, let’s see why this Gookmul lobster variety is so popular!

A vegetable base with bits of lobster?

Finished (click to enlarge). I’ve aways liked potato noodles; they have a very nice feel to them and these are no exception. The broth really tastes like a standard ramyun broth – definitely not so beefy, but really not detecting a huge massive amazing thing here that others might be. The garnish of vegetables and the rubber lobster seems a little intrusive. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.   EAN bar code 8809353080347>.

People are going crazy for this stuff in Taiwan;

#2068: Maggi Fusian Special Edition Ow… Ow… Spicy Cow Flavour Mi Goreng

First off, I must thank Jen from Australia for sending this real gem of an instant noodle. I mean come on – I think anyone reading the name of this variety definitely should thank her. Ow… Ow… Spicy Cow – I mean that’s awesome. This one is made in Malaysia, however it’s for the Australia/New Zealand market. Without further ado, let’s crack it open and get punished by the spicy cow.

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, break noodle block into quarters and add to 375ml boiling water – cook for 3 minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. stir well and enjoy!

The noodle block.

Behold – the spicy cow spice mix.

Wonder if it will be spicy.

A dual sachet – seasoned oil on the left and sweet soy sauce on the right.

The liquid co-mingle together.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, coriander, hard boiled eggs and chilli flake. The noodles came out nicely – a little thicker than the standard instant and a nice chewiness. The flavor was indeed spicy, but probably accessible for those who like a bit of fire but not to burn down their palate. It was a nice sweet and beef taste that I honestly found hard to stop eating. The kind of mi goreng I adore. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
