#3289: Sanpo Spicy Green Pepper Tonkotsu Ramen – Japan

#3289: Sanpo Spicy Green Pepper Tonkotsu Ramen - Japan

This one was in a Ramen Trunk subscription box. These boxes are full of extremely high end varieties that you’ll never find in the United States or anywhere outside Japan! Check out this link and use coupon code RAMENRATER20OFF for 20% off any single box or subscription!

This variety is by a company called Sanpo. Their website (Google translation) states -“We added 1.5 times the Kyushu-made spicy green pepper chips (compared to our company) and it became even more delicious. It is delicious that a spicy pork bone soup with chili pepper is effective based on a mild Hakata-like pork bone soup.”

Awesome – let’s give it a try!

#3289: Sanpo Spicy Green Pepper Tonkotsu Ramen - Japan

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Guessing it contains pork but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodles to 450ml boiling water and cook for 2 minutes 30 seconds. Add in sachet contents and cook an additional minute. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Two servings in the package of noodles and everything else.

A pair of dry sachets (to see contents watch the episode of Instant Noodle Recipe Time below).

A pair of wet sachets.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, soft egg, chashu pork, spring onion, sesame seeds, and shichimi togarashi. Noodles are great – longtime fan of the straight noodle an they work very well in this broth. The broth is a lavish and sultry tonkotsu with a really great smack of peppiness which gives it a unique quality I really loved. Bravo! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4901773013227.

#2099: Sanpo Yakibuta Ramen

Here’s another one from the Box From Japan box from March! BoxFromJapan.com is a monthly subscription service – you get 4 neat and very unique bowls of ramen sent from Japan along with a few chopsticks and a little letter! Really awesome – I’ve not gotten any that I’ve reviewed before at this point which is really quite amazing! Anyways, check them out! Today’s variety looks interesting – they mention that the piece of pork is shaped like a heart to show the care they put into their products. Neat! Let’s check it out!

Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains meat. To prepare, add in pork and powder sachets. Add boiling water to fill line and cover for 3 minutes. Add in oil and stir. Garnish with pickled ginger. Enjoy!

Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).

Detail of the noodle block.

The powder soup base sachet.

A fluffy powder.

An oil sachet.

Light and thick.

Hey look!

Pickled ginger!

A slice of pork.

It mentions looking like a heart but it kind of looks more like a bean to me.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion and Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts. The noodles are thin and have a round shape. The had a pretty good chew to them. The broth is almost tonkotsdu-like – has a good oiliness to it too. The chashu pork was on the thin side which was a bummer, however the ginger was very enjoyable. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4901773010011.
