Brand New Products From Nongshim America!

Here’s something I’ve been waiting for – three new products from Nongshim America! Let’s see what’s inside!

On the left we have Harmony. It’s a broth-free variety that has a chipotle pepper flavor to it. What’s neat is that you can sever is hot or cold – cold sounds good for the summer! On the right is their new Spicy tonkotsu – I don’t know a lot about it except it mentions pork in thje ingredients, so it’s a pork broth – sweet! What I find interesting is that on the edge of the packs it says “Nongshim Black Class Noodle Dish.”

Shrimp is good. Habanero spicy. Lime compliments both of those – very curious how this new bowl will be – been a while since they came out with a new Bowl Noodle! Thank go to Ray and Nikki and all the other great folks at Nongshim America for sending these samples!

#1366: Nongshim Sir Long Tang Creamy Beef Noodle Soup

Here’s something new and different from Nongshim. The name might seem a little odd, but it’s a play on the name of a traditional South Korean beef soup called Seoulleongtang, which has a broth which is simmered for a long time with ox bones. I’ve liked non-spicy South Korean beef noodle soups in the past – let’s see how this one fares!

Detail of the lid (click image to enlarge). To prepare in the microwave, remove lid and empty the sachet contents into the cup. Add room temperature water to the inside line and microwave for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

The vegetables are already in the cup. Here are some of them.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some thin sliced sukiyaki beef. The noodles have a decent gauge and instead of being round like most ramyun, they are flat. They have a light chewiness and are soft. The broth has a very nice and rich beef flavor and is indeed creamy. The vegetables were nice – especially the slices of garlic that hydrated perfectly. A great stick-to-your-ribsy kind of noodle soup. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 031146025947.

Product Samples From Nongshim USA!

Yesterday I saw the FedEx truck coming around the corner through the patio door window. They stopped. What’s nice is that the guy just parks and comes up to the window these days. Let’s see what inside!

Hey rad! So these are two new ones for sale in the US that are made in South Korea. On the left is the Soon Veggie Ramyun – vegan friendly ramyun. On the right, they’ve brought back the Garlic Teriyaki Udon! Sweet! Really looking forward to trying these brand new products that will be able to be got here in the US. Thank you very much!

A Gift From The President Of Nongshim America

It’s been a couple months since our trip to Nongshim in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I was sent a very nice gift from the president of Nongshim America to thank us for visiting and for our reviews! Thank you! This is a golden pot, a very standard cooking item in Korea used to make ramyun!

This one’s interesting – it’s a stainless bowl that has an empty air pocket in the middle so hot soup wont burn your fingers if you’re carrying the bowl! I think a bowl like this was used when I had Naengmyeon once.

This one’s fancy – has a nice pair of fish in the middle and a craquelure that’s glazed over – really neat!

This one has a nice earthenware material and the paint drips are really neat! Can’t wait to try these all out – going to of course break ’em in with Nongshim noodles too! Thanks again! As always, my reviews are based on the quality of the products and the products alone – and I’ve really enjoyed Nongshim’s products a lot!

Back From Nongshim USA!

Well, we’re back from outr trip to Nongshim USA! It was absolutely amazing! The people were so nice, seeing how noodles were made amazing, and the new flavors I tasted were great! I’ll be posting a bit about the trip very soon! For now, I’d like to thank Ray Adams for introducing my wife and I to the world of Nongshim USA! His boss Ray Kim made us feel very welcome and it was so much fun talking with them and everyone else there about noodles and the Nongshim culture. We are so lucky to have been afforded this opportunity and really appreciated it! Can’t wait to do Meet The Manufacturer: Nongshim week! Until then, I’ll be posting a bit of info about the tour and what happened while I was there. Keep your eyes peeled!

The Ramen Rater Really Meets The Manufacturer On Nongshim USA Trip!

Tomorrow, my wife and I are headed to the airport to fly down to the Nongshim USA plant in Rancho Cucamonga, California! There, we’re going to do a plant tour, a noodle tasting, and a videotaped interview for the next Meet The Manufacturer, which (you guessed it) will feature Nongshim. We’ll return on Saturday with stories and pictures – I might do a post while we’re down there from my phone possibly.  I want to say thank you to the wonderful folks at Nongshim USA for this opportunity to learn more about their company and instant noodles! We’re really looking forward to this! Next stop, southern California.
