After decades of sticking with the same recipe, Nissin has decided to go with something new. On Cup Noodles’ 45th anniversary here in the USA, they’ve changed it to include no added MSG and no artificial flavors. Let’s give this a try!
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains shrimp and pork. To prepare, open lid halfway and add boiling water to fill line. Cover for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy!
Although the contents of the cup has changed, the outside of the foam cup remains the same as far as I can tell.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, shrimp, shinchimi togarashi, spring onion, hard boiled egg and narutomaki. The noodles came out decently – thin and flat as Cup Noodles are usually. The broth didn’t exactly scream shrimp to me; it seemed to be slightly on the bland side unfortunately. The amount of shrimp although small was decent for a cup of instant noodles and they had good flavor. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662030028.
Hey check it out – Nissin Cup Noodles got a big facelift.
Here’s how they used to look – cardboard outer packaging is now gone. Less packaging and different materials have been used to make them more environmentally friendly. Also, they’re ot microwavable! Yes, I’m sure maky of you microwaved them before, but you weren’t supposed to. The new cups also have a little extra room so you can add veggies and meats or whatever you want to oomph up your noodles! Let’s check this new cup out!

Detail of the top and bottom of the lid (click image to enlarge). I think this is the first time I’ve seen print on the underside of a lid in a US made instant noodle product – awesome!
The noodle block.
Some loose noodle bits and seasoning.
Finished (click image to enlarge). Added a shrimp. The noodles came out great – thin and flat. They were all hydrated well. The broth has a shrimp taste to it. The bits of vegetable and shrimp were also perfectly hydrated. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662030028.
So we went to the grocery store and got a bunch of Cup Noodles – at only 25 cents a piece why not, and they haven’t been reviewed yet! So here’s shrimp.
I microwaved the water and put it in it – worked great.
Wow – dehydrated shrimp! I made one for my 5 year old too as we bought two of them on accident!
So this stuff is not too bad (click image to enlarge). My boy said it was “strawberry flavor and tasty delicious!” I liked the inclusion of actual dehydrated shrimp, the noodles were okay, and the veggies were tasty. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here. UPC bar code 070662030028.
