#5485: Vifon O Smaku Gulaszu – Poland

#5485: Vifon O Smaku Gulaszu - Poland

Thanks again to the kind donor of these from Poland! Gulaszu translates to goulash – here’s a little from Wikipedia –

In Poland, goulash (Polishgulasz) is eaten in most parts of the country. A variant dish exists that is similar to Hungarian pörkölt. It came to being around the 9th century. It is usually served with mashed potatoes or various forms of noodles and dumplings, such as pyzy.

So I also read that in contrast to Hungarian goulash, Polish is much thicker stuff. Sounds good – let’s give it a try!

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, crush noodles and add sachet contents to a bowl. Add 400ml boiling water and cover 3 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!

An instant noodle block.

A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added pork and scallion. Noodle is thin with a light crumble, standard Vietnamese instant. The broth has a kind of neither here nor there flavor that dances around being really strong which I wish it were. Also, this should be a bit thicker as is the Polish style of goulash. I think cooking it down on the stove would work much better. 2.0 out of 5.0 stars.  EAN bar code 5901882313460.
