#5355: Maggi Vegemite Flavour 2-Minute Noodles – Australia

#5355: Maggi Vegemite Flavour 2-Minute Noodles - Australia

Big thanks to Pher Engi for sending this along! This is an interesting one – I had a chat with my friend Jamie some time ago about Marmite and instant noodles. He sent me some little containers of the stuff and recommended it on toast – and it’s pretty good I must admit. Maybe in the future I’ll get some and make some noodles and mix it in. This on the other hand in Vegemite which sounds like the same thing – the leftover sludge from making beer. Let’s cook it up and see what it tastes like!

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, break up noodle and boil 2 minutes. Drain, leaving 2 tbsp water. They recommend adding 1/2 tsp butter and a 1 tbsp of grated cheese. I’ll do the butter.

An instant noodle block.

A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added a snip of mint and butter as per instructions. Noodle is about as you expect – the standard  Maggi 2 Minute Noodle. The flavor… Yeah, I get  yeast exract flavor in there – I think this might work on toast. It’s a strange thing. Not bad, but not intense. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 9556001137678.
