Here’s another one from Zenpop.JP. Zenpop offers a lot of diverse Japanese boxes – lots of assorted things like ramen and also stationary among other things. Here’s what they have to say about this variety –
This cup of ramen is arranged like Kiritanpo Nabe (hot pot), a famous regional cuisine of Akita prefecture in Tonoku area. The shoyu soup has an exquisite flavor of burdock root and umami of vegetables. Kiritanpo, the unique grilled pounded rice sticks, are featured along with meatballs.
Hey that sounds like an interesting one – alright – let’s have a look at this one sent by the folks at Zenpop!

The noodle block.
Loose garnish and seasoning from the cup.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo organic mung bean sprouts and spring onion. Noodles came out quite well with a less spongy aspect than many cup varieties. The broth had a really neat taste to it – kinda shoyu a little bit spiced like tantanmen but different – maybe a tinge of vinegar? The little rice pieces are just perfect – and the meatballs wonderful. Truly a nice surprise in this cup. 4.75 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901734032014.
