Here’s one that was sent by Nissin Foods USA – thanks! I want to mention really quick – January 19th is Momofuku Ando Day! If you would like to participate in the special Show Your Noodles, send pictures of the noodles you make, your name (abbreviated if you like), locale and a description of the noodles you’re enjoying to [email protected].
Back to the review – so this is Super Picante! Sounds like fun – let’s get to it.
Here’s detail of the side panels (click image to enlarge).
The noodle block.
The powder seasoning packet.
Spicy stuff – deep reddish color.
The veggie packet.
A nice amount.
A paste packet.
Thick, oily paste.
Finished (click image to enlarge). Added baked chicken breast with Cavender’s Greek Seasoning, a fried egg with Krazy Mixed Up Salt and a little Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are good – thin and a little crumbly. The broth has a nice rich flavor – spicy and earthy. The veggies are great – especially the corn which re-hydrates very well. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 070662096345
What an awesome commercial.
Wow – I wonder what the little things they’re pulling off the big advert are?
Some very domesticated Nissin Hot & Spicy! Haven’t tried this kind before – hoping it’s good!
So three packets – Vegetables, powdered soup base and their patented ‘soup booster’ packet (liquid).
So the soup booster goes in last, but here’s the cake of noodle, veggies and powder soup base. It microwaved for 3 minutes, thirty seconds and then sat for a minute.
Click image to enlarge. Then add the soup booster, give it a few stirs and voila! This is the finished product! So this has an interesting flavor. I’m not going to say its very chicken flavored. In fact I would go so far to say that this reminds me of Korean noodles that have a picture of a chili pepper on them. The noodles are pretty good – especially after being microwaved like that. The broth is weird; not a lot of it and it’s spicy but a really nondescript flavor other than ‘hot n spicy’ like the Flamin’ Hot that goes on Chee-Tos. The veggies were ample but I found that they liked to hide a lot. This lack of buoyancy for lack of a better word was kind of disappointing as the waterlogged bits fell short. Anyways, I’m giving the whole shbang 2.0 out of 5.0 stars. It was good because I couldn’t decide on anything else to eat, but it filled the void and nothing else. Get it here.
