Hot soba like this one is usually served as a noodle soup in a bowl of hot tsuyu (dashi soup stock and a mixture of soy sauce, mirin and sugar) as a sou p base. It’s a thinner version than the dipping sauce used for cold soba. For a busy day, take this one to go for a quick lunch at work.”

#155: Lucky Me! Instant Pancit Canton Chow Mein

I’ve really enjoyed the chow mein that Sapporo Ichiban put out for years – curious to see how this stacks up…

Oil, sauce and powder.

Awaiting some drained noodles and a stir…

Click image to enlarge. Wow – this stuff is awesome! I wouldn’t call it chow mein per se… It reminds me slightly of Mi Goreng in a way. If you’re looking for a small amount of noodles (the pack is only 65g), this is your best bet. Also, it’d be the perfect match for some fried egg on top! I’m giving this 4.75 out of 5.0 stars – absolutely delightful. Get it here.
