Here’s one the folks at A-Sha sent over – thanks again! I like spicy and I like scallions a lot. Scallions (spring onion/green onion) are one of the things I always have to have on hand. Period. Let’s check these out!
A-Sha Jin Kung Fu Spicy Scallion Noodle – Taiwan
Detail of the package (click to enlarge). Unsure whether it contains meat – check ofr yourself. To prepare, boil noodles for 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
The dry noodle block.
A wet sachet.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion and sesame seeds. Noodles are broad and have a nice doneness and chewiness. The flavor is a sweet, spicy, and savory one with the greenery component working very well alongside the other flavors. Hard oto put down. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 4715635853957.
In the past year, I’ve tried quite a few varieties with Sichuan Pepper in them and really gotten a feel for this kind of flavor. In a way, Sichuan Pepper has almost a minty taste to it; it’s really quite different and unique. Let’s check it out!
Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodle block to 800ml boiling water and cook 5-6 minutes (I’ll be cooking exactly 5 1/2 minutes). Drain noodles. Add contents of sachets. Stir and enjoy!
The large bag contains 4 of these smaller packages.
The noodle block.
A sachet of liquid.
Has a soy scent.
A bright orange sachet.
Has the Sichuan Pepper – and a minty, almost pine scent to it.
Finished. Added Chinese sausage, fried garlic and scallions. The noodles are wide and have a kind of wobble to the edge which has a pleasing look. They have a nice chew and premium mouthfeel – not too soft, not too rigid. The sauce coats the noodles completely – not too much, not too little. The balance of the Sichuan pepper to other flavors is masterful; it balances perfectly. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 4710953481950.
So today my nose is bugging me so I thought perhaps something chickenny would be good. Well, this is artificial chicken flavor so we’ll see. Also if you look closely at the photo, the chicken in the bowl on the package looks like its made out of plastic! Truly artificial chicken flavor! Har har!
Was nice to see four packets – veggies, soup base, chili powder and some seasoned oil.
Flat rice noodles came in their own bag.
So there’s soya protein in the veggies so that’s probably the fake meat funk.
Click image to enlarge. I added two eggs to the boiling water and noodles. So this stuff is perfect for my funky nose. The rice noodles are nice – not bad at all. The broth is nice with just a slight spicy hint. The veggies are good and have fake chicken bits that r chewy. I liked it. I’ll give this one 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.
