#2432: Fashion Food Yummy Spicy Rice Soup With Seafood

#2432: Fashion Food Yummy Spicy Rice Soup With Seafood - Thailand - The Ramen Rater - rice soup

Okay first off, this isn’t a noodle review and I know, I know… But this one looks exactly like the other ones they sell that are noodles. FF (Fashion Foods) has these little bowls with lids everywhere, and usually they’re either a wheat instant noodle or instant vermicelli. I looked at it, didn’t recognize it, and popped it in my basket thinking I’ve just found a rice noodle version of their stuff I hadn’t tried previously. Well, this is a broth with rice. I only realized this until I had done the picture of the side panels.

Pictures of the side panels… They a lot of the time are what take the most time of reviews. Indeed, these bowls are the absolutely hardest ones to do! The plastic wrap is shrink wrap and so I could try cutting it off and scanning it, but that’s not going to work; too crinkly. So, I have to resort to my old method: rotate and take a picture. I do this until I get all around the bowl and then hand crop and stitch and clone stamp them into something hopefully presentable. Well, let’s make some rice soup.

As you can see, it’s rice. Indeed the grains are extra short – rice is cooked then dehydrated to make it quickly hydrated again.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added nothing. So the rice hydrated pretty well. Indeed there’s a decent amount of it as well. Indeed the broth has a spicy flavor, as well as a seafood taste. Moreover, there are lots of bits of seafood going on in here. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8850412374334.

FF Tom Yum Seafood Instant Noodles

Mark Wiens always is posting great videos of his world travels, trying great exotic foods. So this one is in Bangkok, Thailand – he’s trying some tom yum.

#2235: Fashion Food Tom Yum Shrimp Creamy Flavour Instant Noodles

It’s been a really really long time since I’ve reviewed any of these FF bowls. My friend Matt B. was saying he got one and really liked it, and so I found this one to try out. Let’s have a look!

Detail of a side panel (click to enlarge). I hoped I could scan this one but had no luck as you can see! Here’s the nutrition info. Contains shrimp. To prepare, add in all sachet contents to bowl and add boiling water to fill line. Cover for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

An included fork!

The noodle block in it’s own bag.

The dry seasonings.

A very light powder.

The solid ingredients sachet.

Looks like spring onion, crab stick and carrot.

A liquid sachet.

Spicy stuff!

Finished (click to enlarge). This one steeped in it’s own plastic bowl, and in the past I’ve found these things to be kind of gimmicky – hey – it comes with a plastic bowl and lid. Well, I did like this one. The noodles steeped well and came out with a good chew and tension. The broth has a nice creamy tom yum taste to it as well. I do have to say though that carrot and crab stick seemed a little weird in this, but all in all it wasn’t bad. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.   EAN bar code 8850412271500.

#767: Fashion Food Mushroom Flavour Vegetarian Instant Noodle

Here’s another one of the Fashion Food varieties.

The noodle block.

Dry seasoning packet

Seasoned oil.

Veggie packet!

Now we just need the boiling water.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Noodles aren’t bad. Flavor of the whole thing is a little funky though and something I didn’t enjoy. Was very strange. The broth was just off. The veggies weren’t bad but not my cup of tea. 1.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8850412373658 .

Here’s a hourse for rent in Thailand!

Going to floating markets.

Where To Get It: OC Market Poultry & Rotisserie in Anaheim, CA

This place was awesome! Quite a few varieties of noodles I hadn’t seen before – pretty much the full line of FF bowls and even a Sunlee square bowl. Not only that, but the woman who was at the register was really nice and actually talked to us! A lot of the time at checkouts at Asian groceries I find that the people working there don’t make eye contact or even speak to us at all. One other thing – the place smelled really good – I think that it’d be an excellent place to eat in as well. Highly recommended!
