Meet The Manufacturer: #2344: Nissin Cup Noodles Sopa Nissin Sabor A Pollo - Mexico - The Ramen Rater - instant noodles

Well folks, today is the last day of Meet The Manufacturer. It’s been a definite departure from the flavors I’m used to and it’s been a different way of thinking about noodles. I usually include mung bean sprouts in everything, but that really wasn’t an option. Indeed don’t know if my application of queso fresca was correct, but I had to try. However I tried to find other varieties of Mexican cheeses, however couldn’t find any melty ones – just crumbly. It was fun and something different for me, and I want to thank the folks at Nissin Mexico for the opportunity to try all of these! Let’s check out the chicken Cup Noodles to wrap things up.

The broth is about as standard as you can get – salty and chickenny. The vegetables hydrated decently, including the peas. Pollo-licious! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662140031.

Okay folks, what we have here is the baseline. Every company has a chicken flavored instant noodle, and this is Nissin Mexico’s. I should actually say not every company has a chicken flavor – but most do. Chicken is pretty open to interpretation and I don’t think (other than vegetarians and vegans) there are any cultural groups that don’t eat chicken. I could be wrong and if I am let me know. Let’s have something chicken flavored and dress it up Mexican style!

Meet The Manufacturer: #2333: Nissin Maxi Sopa Nissin Cuchareable Sabor A Pollo - Mexico - fideos instantanea

Here we have a big cup of noodles! I did a little translation on this one for you – ‘maxi’ means ‘big,’ ‘sopa’ means ‘soup,’ ‘cuchareable’ means ‘spoonable,’ and pollo means chicken.  Basically, this is a chicken noodle soup one can enjoy with a spoon instead of a fork. Got it? Let’s check it out!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added corn, chicken and queso fresco. The noodles are indeed ‘cuchareable,’ and are interesting. They have a short and broad nature with a light chew and a little thickness. The flavor is that of a salty chicken soup. I should note that the broth has a slight thickness to it which gives it a more ‘homestyle’ kind of vibe. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 070662240137.

Meet The Manufacturer: #2331: Nissin Cup Noodles Sopa Nissin Hot Sauce Sabor A Pollo - Mexico - The Ramen Rater - instant noodles

To start things off, I thought it would be interesting to try one of these Cup Noodles that come with hot sauce. Definitely not uncommon around the world to find a Cup Noodle variety with a sauce sachet, however it seems to be a little less common in the Americas. Let’s give it a try!

#2208: Roland Ramen Japanese Style Quick-Cooking Alimentary Paste With Chicken Artificially Flavored Soup Base

A big thanks to Colin for finding and sending me this one! Okay, so I have been trying to get this one for a while; anything by Roland honestly. I called them, emailed them, and always got the same reply – ‘we don’t send sample.’ I really love it when companies have such a rigid policy against basically what amounts to free advertising. This one is made in Singapore for Roland company here in the USA, and I have a feeling it’s a private label by Tat Hui/KOKA – all boils down to one aspect which is a giveaway. Let’s check this one out and I’ll show you what that is.

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodle block and soup base sachet to 3 cups water and cook for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy! NOTE – while I will be using the mentioned 3 cups of water on this one, I think the only reason 3 cups are mentioned is directly related to the nutrition facts – note it says this pack is 3 servings. I think 3 cups is going to make this exceedingly bland, but we’ll see.

The noodle block.

The soup base sachet.

A light powder.

Finished (click to enlarge). The noodles came out decently; nothing fancy, but a decent instant noodle. The broth however was definitely bland. This is almost completely due to the called for 3 cups of water. I’m sure 400ml would have done just fine for this one. Not only that, I kind of get the feeling that even with that lesser amount of water it still would have been leaning toward the bland side. 0.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 041224722002.

#2159: La Moderna Sazon Casero Sopa Con Tomate Y Sabor Pollo

Here’s one sent by Colin after a trip to Mexico – thanks! Translating shouldn’t be hard, but for thoes who can’t, this is tomato chicken soup with noodles. Sounds like it should be pretty good! Let’s find out!

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Contains chicken. To prepare, boil 4 cups of water and add in sachet contents. Cover and simmer 5 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

Here’s what the packet contents look like.

Finished (click to enlarge). While not oily and very thin, the broth has a nice tomato chicken taste to it. The noodles are thin and short and do the job. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 7501018315009.

#2074: Nissin Cup Noodles Sabor Pollo Habanero y Limon Sopa Instantanea

Here’s another one sent by Colin, a reader who recently visited Mexico – thanks! Okay so with all the flames on this one, the picture of the habanero and the packet, I’m getting this might be a little spicy. Let’s find out.

Detail of the side panel (click to enlarge). Contains chicken. To prepare, add boiling water to fill line and cover for 3 minutes. Stir. Add sachet contents and enjoy!

Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).

Looks like the USA version except in Spanish. Reads ‘much more than a soup.’

The seasoning infused noodle block.

A couple of the vegetable bits from the cup.

Oh, this could get violent (click to enlarge)! El Yucateco is one of the spiciest hot sauces I’ve come in contact with, especially the habanero!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added baked chicken and cilantro. The noodles are your standard North American fare – round in gauge and with a very light chew. The broth was a hint of spicy – not a barn burner here. The vegetables hydrated very nicely. The packet of El Yucateco – now that’s worth a fuss! Extremely spicy stuff – and not USA habanero spicy, Mexican habanero spicy which is very direct and to the point. It’s hot, has a bite and really ups this cup quite a bit. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.  UPC bar code 070662141236.

#346: Paldo Bowl Noodle Soup Spicy Artificial Chicken Flavor

So I’ve reviewed a lot of bowl noodles. I’m confused as to how Paldo, Samyang and Nongshim all have them and they’re all called bowl noodle. Spicy chicken is pretty common – let’s see how this is.

Two packets – powder on left, veggies on right.

Always like that rich color contrast.

Click image to enlarge. Okay so I added a couple fried eggs. That stuff on top? I made hot sauce yesterday! Click here to see what it was made out of and here to see the making of post on  my other blog, FooFooMayo. So this was pretty good – nothing super special but I enjoyed it for breakfast. 3.125 out of 5.0 stars Get it here.

#230: Lucky Me! Supreme Instant Mami Noodles with Free Crackers Artificial Chicken Flavor

Enjoy. Do it enjoy.

So here’s some chicken flavor bowl noodles hmm? Free crackers…

Base powder, some ‘I’m not sure’ and crackers…

Sitting on the instant noodles…

So yeah – crackers? Interesting that in the last couple reviews I’ve tried some new things – last it was a Koka that had coconut in it – weird…

Click image to enlarge. Not bad at all – nothing super special though. Tasted like chicken ramen but a little more like a noodle soup kind of thing going on here. The crackers tasted good too. After a few bites of it and a try of the crackers, I left it for my 5 year old boy to devour – which he did quickly. I’m giving it a 3.75 out of 5.0 stars – I like it, the kid likes it, we’re good here capiche?

#200: Nongshim Bowl Noodle Soup Spicy Chicken Flavor

So this is the 200th instant noodle I’ve reviewed! So bright eyed and vaguely bushy tailed at 6:30am, here we go! I’d like to first thank Kit for picking #199 and #200 for my reviews and also for cruising us around and going to all of these Asian groceries around here. If you like the Ramen Rater, go see her Asian and otherwise snack reviews site at http://www.supertastysnacks.com – she just started it last week and she’s got her first few reviews up! Looking good!

So one packet of powder soup base. Very simple here. I should mention that these noodles are by Nongshim, which makes all sorts of products – mostly in Korea. But these noodles are made in the Unite States.

Quite a bit of that powder; I think it may be some extremely spicy stuff at first glance; usually Korean noodles that have a bright colored soup base like this that say spicy are tongue toasting…

Click image to enlarge. So here’s what it looks like after some boiling water and 3 minutes with the lid shut and a stir. I thought I’d throw a twist on it though…

I don’t think that people usually have this stuff with a couple of fried eggs in it – but I thought the chicken could use some egg. I found a couple little round thin pieces that weren’t from the egg in there. I think I figured out what they are from the ingredients: dehydrated pollock! Yes, little pieces of whitefish in chicken flavor noodle soup. Says CONTAINS: EGGS, MILK, FISH, WHEAT AND SOY. So I thought that was kind of weird. Anyways, on to the review. The noodles weren’t the best in the world – much like a Cup Noodles type of noodle. No backbone. The broth was perfect – not too salty and chicken taste was present. It wasn’t spicy at all to be honest as I had expected a death grip of heat I was somewhat pleased by this. There weren’t really any veggies to speak of, but what there were were pretty good. The fried eggs on top sealed the deal and made this one excellent bowl of noodles. I’m giving this one 4.5 out of 5.0 stars – yes really! This is the first Nong Shim Bowl Noodle I’ve reviewed, kind of surprising since it is so commonplace to see. I think I’m going to do more of these soon – as I begin the next 200 reviews! Get it here.
