#1929: MAMA Instant Noodles Minced Pork Flavour

The next to last Cambodian variety I got from the Thai President Foods folks back in May of ’15. Minced pork! Let’s crack it open!

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Contains pork. To prepare, add package contents to a bowl and add 350ml boiling water. Cover for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

A dual sachet.

Chilli powder atop soup base.

A seasoned oil sachet.

A dark liquid.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added coriander, minced bbq pork, fried garlic and pepper strands. The noodles are the standard MAMA stuff – nice gauge, good chew and nice flavor. The broth is a spicy pork affair which has a nice blend of seasonings to it. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8850987101014.

There’s a rumor going around that there is wax in instant noodles. The claim is that wax is used to keep noodles seperated. This is utter nonsense; wax would melt in boiling water! Anyways, here’s a video talking about this lunacy and some great shots of the factory I got to visit in Sriracha last May.

#1859: MAMA Instant Noodles Chicken Green Curry Flavour

This is yet another of the samples I received upon returning from my trip to Thailand to visit the MAMA noodles company in May. These are for the Cambodian market. MAMA’s Green Curry hit the top ten in this year’s annual list – excellent stuff! I should note today is the first review I’ve done in a few days. Why? Well, I should start by mentioning that this will come out a few weeks after today – I am way ahead, which is nice. A couple days ago, we had a huge windstorm here. Gusts up to 70MPH – in some remote areas they were over 100MPH! Trees fell not only from the wind, but from all the recent rain which made the ground soft. In my county, at one point there were over 200,000 people without electricity. We were without power for 29 hours – everything in our refrigerator has gone bad – including all of my garnishes! Luckily, I hadn’t gotten anything new and was due to get some things, but still a lot of food will be getting thrown away. The only plus of the event was that I got to haul out my shortwave radio and was able to pick up broadcasts from Slovakia, Cuba and Japan to name a few! Usually there’s so much interference that I can’t receive anything. Anyways, power came back on last night! Hooray!

I also am happy to announce that today our new son Miles is 3 months old! Happy birthday to you! Let’s check out these noodles! Hot food is good!

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodles and seasoning sachet contents to a bowl. Add 300ml boiling water and cover for 3 minutes. stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

The dry seasoning sachet.

A light green powder.

A paste sachet.

A thick liquid.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added leftover tofu and vegetables from some Thai food we had with my wife’s Aunt Cindy and Uncle Joe last night. The noodles came out nicely – thinner than your standard instant with a nice body. The broth is really great – a little spicy and a great green curry flavor! Excellent stuff! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. 8850987144370.

A really awesome field radio my wife got me earlier this year!

#1826: MAMA Instant Noodles Stewed Beef Flavour

I made some instant noodle the other day with beef balls in them and Kit really thought they were good, so I thought I’d make this one with some beef balls in it for her today! This one was sent to me after my trip to the Thai President Foods European Agent Meeting in May! It was really great – while I’m not a distributor for TF, they were super kind to invited me to come and check out Thailand and their factories. I did a travelogue you can check out here. I found out they don’t only make products in Thailand but have factories throughout the world. This one comes from Cambodia – let’s have a look!

#1767: MAMA Instant Noodles Shrimp Tom Yum Flavour

Here’s one that should be familiar to instant noodle fans from almost everywhere, and especially those from Cambodia! This one is made specifically for the Cambodian marketplace. I got this sent to me after seeing it at the 2015 TF Eurpean Agent meeting I was invited to check out earlier this year in Bangkok, Thailand! Curious to see if it’s different than the one sold here in the US. Let’s find out!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Contains shrimp. To prepare, add contents of package to a bowl and add 360ml boiling water. Cover and steep for 3-5 minutes. Uncover and stir. Enjoy!

The noodle block.

The dry soup paste sachet.

Has a nice scent to it.

A paste sachet.

Has a spicy and citrus scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added mung bean sprouts, shrimp, Fresno peppers, coriander and white onion. The noodles had a good texture and the quantity was nice as well. The broth seemed slightly lighter than the Us version I’m used to getting here, but aside from that it seemed pretty spot on. Good stuff! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.  EAN bar code 8850987101021.

Diverse Samples From MAMA!

At one point during my trip to Thailand earlier this month, there was a big seminar for all the European distributors of MAMA noodles. They had a table with all sorts of varieties I’d never seen, made in places I’d never reviewed varieties from. I asked if there was any chance I could get some of these samples, and they were happy to oblige – only problem was that my luggage was just stuffed! So they kindly offered to ship them to me and they arrived yesterday evening! I’m going to be doing a travelogue of my trip soon, and I think I’ll be reviewing some of these during that special series! Let’s have a look.

Pack varieties from Myanmar!

Cups from Myanmar!

These are snack noodles from Myanmar with Power Rangers on them! Awesome!

Pack varieties from Bangladesh!

Pack varieties from their new Hungarian factory!

Finally, some varieties from Cambodia! What makes all of these so special is that I’ve not reviewed any varieties from ANY of these countries before! Thank you so much to everyone at TF/MAMA! Looking forward to trying!
