#3168: New Touch Chashu Ramen – Japan

Today we have a Zenpop.JP variety – so what’s Zenpop? They’re a subscription service for all things Japanese! Definitely, check them out. By the way, use coupon code RAMENRATER to get $2 off! Here’s what they had to say about this one -“Chashu (roast pork slices) makes ramen special, and this bowl of ramen is super-special because it contains three slices of it! The simple and light shoyu soup has a mingled flavor of pork, chicken and stir-fried vegetables. Add a boiled egg and make it beyond special!”

I do like chashu, however in general, I’ve found pre-packaged chashu to be kind of, well, like pepperoni in texture and too thin to consider awesome. But with an open mind, I go forth to do my work.

Your three slices of chashu and some vegetables.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added sad egg, spring onion, and Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts. Noodles were alright – nothing to write home about. Broth is a slightly bitter shoyu with some deep, dark pork fat flavor. The chashu itself was incredibly thin and was more like lunchmeat than chasju. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars.
