#797: Golden Mie Vegetable Instant Noodles

Here’s the last of the Golden Mie varieties sent to me by Carter B. from his travels in Mali. These noodles actually are from Dubai! Awesome!

Back of the packaging (click image to enlarge).

This one got a little munched during the travel from Dubai to Mali to the USA – here’s one of the larger pieces.

A dual packet with chili powder on the left and seasoning powder on the right.

Here’s the seasoning powder with the chili powder on top.

Here’s the man himself. Little does he know but that’s Indomie Sop Buntut (Oxtail soup) – wasn’t too excited to find that out har har! Poor kid – finds that out after trying kimchi for the first time this morning… Andy’s got his own blog over at Andy’s LEGO Stuff (www.andyslegostuff.com)! He was recently contacted by Papercutz.com, publishers of the LEGO Ninjago graphics novels – they’re sending him some to review! Way to go, Andy!

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some kizami shoga (pickled ginger) and some Blue Diamond Sea Salt almonds. The noodles were kind of crumbly but not too bad. The broth was great – best vegetable flavored broth I’ve ever had. Awesome! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 6290490011318 .

This is a trip!

#742: Golden Mie Chicken Instant Noodles

Here’s another one sent to me by Carter B. of Lancaster PA! This is another one he got in Mali (a country in west Africa), and this brand hails from Dubai! Let’s check it out!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge).

The noodle block was a little damaged during all of the travelling, but here’s a big chunk to see.

Came with a double packet of dried chili and soup base.

Here’s the powdered base.

Here’s the chili packet contents. Not quite chili powder.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added a couple fried eggs with some Krazy Mixed Up Salt and kizami shoga (pickled ginger). Also added some of my veggie mix and a little handful of Fresno peppers. A few splashes of Tabasco Buffalo Style hot sauce on the eggs rounded things out. The noodles are good – kind of crumbly and have a weird kind of firmness. The broth has a bit of a real chicken flavor but then a lot of saltiness. All in all not bad. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 6290490021317 .

#720: Golden Mie Chicken Curry Instant Noodles

Here’s one of the more exotic varieties I’ve gotten. This one was sent to me by Carter B. of Lancaster, PA! Thanks! Your stickers are in the mail! He picked these up in Mali and brought them back and sent them to me! Very kind! Let’s have a look.

Here’s the back of the package – notice where it’s from (click image to enlarge)? Dubai! Very cool!

Here’s the dry contents dual-packet. Chili powder on the left, soup base powder on the right.

Spicy chili powder!

Soup base powder.

Here’s some seasoning oil.

All ready to go.

Finished (click image to enlarge). I added a little bit of stir-fry vegetables, a two egg omelet with a little roast beef inside and atop that some Huy Fong Sriracha hot sauce and some Krazy Mixed Up Salt. First, the noodles: they definitely have a different character than something you’d find in a pack of domestic noodles. They seem to be more crumbly during the chewing. They’re not chewy but they’re firmer too. I liked them a lot! The broth is nice – not extremely salty or flavored; more mild. It’s nice stuff to taste. All in all, I like it. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars!
