#2570: Tao Kae Noi Ramen Creamy Tom Yum Kung Flavour

Tao Kae Noi Ramen Creamy Tom Yum Kung Flavour - Thailand - The Ramen Rater - instant noodles

So I haven’t done a review of this company’s products before, however I have had therm in the past. Tao Kae Noi is pretty well known for their crunchy seaweed snacks. They make them in quite a few flavors – my favorite are their tom yum flavored ones – spicy and tasty. This pack comes with a couple pieces of their snack seaweed. Let’s see a little from Wikipedia about Tom Yum Kung –

Tom yum or tom yam (UK: /ˌtɒm ˈjæm/ or /ˌtɒm ˈjʌm/US: /ˌtɑːm ˈjɑːm/;[2] Thaiต้มยำrtgstom yampronounced [tôm jām]) is a type of hot and sour Thai soup,[2] usually cooked with shrimp (prawn).[3] Tom yum is widely served in neighbouring countries such as CambodiaBruneiMalaysiaSingapore and Laos and has been popularised around the world.

The words “tom yam” are derived from two Thai words. Tom refers to the boiling process, while yam refers to a Thai spicy and sour salad. Indeed, tom yum is characterised by its distinct hot and sour flavours, with fragrant spices and herbs generously used in the broth. The basic broth is made of stock and fresh ingredients such as lemongrasskaffir lime leaves, galangallime juice, fish sauce, and crushed chili peppers.

Commercial tom yum paste is made by crushing all the herb ingredients and stir frying in oil. Seasoning and other preservative ingredients are then added. The paste is bottled or packaged and sold around the world. Tom yum flavored with the paste may have different characteristics from that made with fresh herb ingredients. The soup often includes meats such as chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp.

The 1997 Financial Crisis in Asia, which started in Thailand, is sometimes referred to as the “Tom Yam Kung Crisis”.[4]

Tom yam kung (Thaiต้มยำกุ้ง) – the version of the dish most popular among tourists, is made with prawns as the main ingredient.[10] The dish originated during the Rattanakosin Kingdom.[11]

Tao Kae Noi crispy seaweed snack.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added 35-44ct shrimp, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts and coriander. The noodles steeped great and have a really great chew to them. The broth is a sharp tom yum with a nice creamy look and flavor. The seaweed really goes better as a snack I think, but the ends with the broth while soggy had a nice taste from the broth and the non-wet part has that excellent crispiness that this company’s seaweed snacks have. A really nice little pack of noodles! 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8858702421034.
