Nonetheless, there are some changes in the past few years that I thought were noteworthy and so here you go! I got an email a few weeks back asking if I’d tried the new 2x Spicy Buldak Bokkeummyun. I hadn’t and really wanted to. The email was sent by Anders and his girlfriend Ji-Min who live in South Korea and were kind enough to send some varieties along! Let’s see what’s inside!

They also weren’t super keen on it being chicken flavored; South Koreans prefer rich beef flavors as opposed to lighter poultry tastes. With a little tweaking, the spicy rich beef noodles synonymous with ramyun were born. The thick noodles, rich broth and spiciness keep me coming back for more. This list contains my favorites from the 1272 reviews I’ve done thus far. They are all made in South Korea, and many will be hard to find in the United States, if not impossible. With that, here’s my list.

This is a great little collection of South Korean varieties you can’t easily find here! Ottogi Cheese Ramyun and Spaghetti bowls – been wanting to try them for a while! The two above are Paldo Korea varieties – I think Rabokki and Jjajang. The Nongshim Shin Cup in the lower right is the South Korean version. Thank, Kristen! Welcome to Show Your Noodles #21: The Momofuku Ando Day Edition! It’s been a couple of months since I’ve done a Show Your Noodles, mainly because I haven’t received any submissions. Well, recently people have been sending in quite a few and I thought today would be a good day to try it again. As always if you would like to participate in show Your Noodles #22, all you need to do is email a photo of anything you’ve made with instant noodles (a new recipe or a sculpture; really – go wild with it) with your first name, last initial, general location and a description of your noodles to hans@theramenrater.com. Starting yesterday evening, I noticed a huge amount of people from Korea coming to the site. Apparently, they were all coming in droves because of a news story about my Top Ten list including Nong Shim’s Shin Ramyun Black noodles! Well, here’s some links and some pictures of the articles. I’m really hoping someone can translate them soon as Google Translate has done a really crummy job where it usually does so well.
