#2348: Ripe’N’Dry Hokkaido Salt Ramen

#2348: Ripe'N'Dry Hokkaido Salt Ramen - Japan - The Ramen Rater - instant noodles

Here’s one I got at Jason’s Market at the bottom of the Taipei 101 in Taiwan. I’d been very curious about this line as I’ve seen them before; hard to miss with the angry bear on the front! I’m very curious about how ripe and dry correlate with instant ramen. Lately when I use the term ripe, it’s referring to needing to change a diaper as in ‘ooof Miles – you’re ripe!’ Dry as far as flavor I usually think of when it comes to wine. I’m hoping this doesn’t smell like loaded diapers or taste like wine – I’m guessing it won’t. Let’s give it a go!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, baked chicken, hard boiled egg and nanami togarashi. The noodles had a strong backbone and chew with a little crumble; they were good. The broth had a kind of bitter saltiness which went from ‘I like it’ to ‘I dunno’ back and forth again and again. I leaned towards the latter. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4976651082367.

Meet The Manufacturer: #1375: Takamori Tomato Spaghetti Napolitan

Thought a neat one to start with would be this. It’s kind of like a twist on yakisoba and spaghetti and sounded really neat. Let’s have a look!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Not sure if meat is present. To prepare, sautee some meat and veggies about halfway and set aside. Add a spoonful of water to a skillet and heat. Drop in the noodles and cook a little and then drop in the dry sachet content. Mix thoroughly and then add in your meat and veggies. Cook until done. Enjoy!

Has a nice tomato scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added thin sliced pork and sweet onion. The noodles have a nice thick gauge and very nice chewiness. They have a good, fresh character. The flavor is that of tomato with a very nice sweetness and herbed notes. The flavor isn’t overwhelming, nor leaving me wanting for more of it – just right! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 4901959100307.
