#786: Mr. Noodles Beef Simulated Flavour Instant Noodles

Here’s another one of the Mr. Noodles variants from Canada. Thanks go to Mark K. and Erika L. for getting these to me! Beef. Okay let’s try it!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge).

The noodle block.

The flavoring packet!

A decent amount of flavoring!

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some veggie, roast beef, kizami shoga (pickled ginger) and one almond. The noodles were a bit different this time – not all slimy which I am happy to report. Still, they’re pretty weak and sad. The broth was surprisingly bland yet again. I love that I’m able to review these even though they’re really lackluster. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 059491000358 .

This is pretty bizarre…

Hey this is awesome!

#545: Golden Wheat Korean Style Spicy Beef Cooking Noodle

Here’s another one from Nathan up in Vancouver. First off, this one’s BIG. it calls for 700mL of water and to be cooked for 5-6 minutes! Aside from this stuff, there are some oddities I noticed that were kind of interesting.

Notice the similarities? Of course those who are fans of Shin Ramyun aren’t going to say ‘hey this is Shin Ramyun, but it’s interesting to see the attempt to emulate here.

Three packets – powder, liquid and veggies.

But wait a minute – that logo looks a little familiar. The three packets are the same one that JML makes – look here. The JML brand ones were also sent by a Ramen Rater fan, Greg N. from Florida. Finally, JML is a Chinese company; so I’m just going to assume that this stuff was made in China, kind of looks like Shin Ramyun and is labeled for sale in Canada.

Yep – looks exactly the same as the JML spicy beefs too.

Click image to enlarge. Well, there was a problem. This is a different bowl. 700mL of liquid, an enormous block of noodles and two eggs wouldn’t fit in the other bowl. The noodles came out quite nice – thicker gauge than normal stuff and a little chewy. Not bad. The broth is fiery hot – definitely the JML action working here. The veggie hid a bit but then they came out and ran amok. Nicely re-hydrated veggies. It’s pretty good stuff, although quite a large amount of it. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.

“The Golden Wheat” a Soviet-era song

Yet another Golden Wheat song – nothing to do with the noodles, but interesting music.

#436: Unif Bowl Instant Noodles – Artificial Beef With Sauerkraut Flavor

Wow look at this one – all purple and yellow… Very different looking than anything I’ve seen yet. And the flavor – beef and sauerkraut? I wonder if it’s going to be any good? Well, let’s have at it!

So purple packet must be the sauerkraut, next to it would be the seasoned oil and below the powder seasoning. A fork! I did a mention of this one before in the special fork report so no need to do it again.

Would you look at that – kind of scary eh? Time to add boiling water and give ‘er a try…

Click image to enlarge. Here we are. So first off, it’s spicy and I really did not expect that at all. Strong cabbage taste – that’s what sauerkraut is so logical… The broth is salty and kind of a beef taste but reminds me slightly of bad milk. The noodles aren’t bad but unimpressive. Hmm. I’m still a little moved by the interesting nature of these noodles. It’s a very very different flavor that’s for sure. Despite some weirdness, it’s strangely addicting and is getting 3.75 stars out of 5.0. It’s definitely worth checking out!

#414: Doll Instant Noodle Artificial Beef Flavour

So I’ve been quite a fan of Doll’s varieties – they’ve always proven to be quite nice. So here’s their beef variety.

One packet of dry seasoning.

Very deep color to this one – looks like cooked beef.

Click image to enlarge. Tossed in a couple eggs. Wasn’t really expecting what I found with this one. The rpos – a nice amount of noodles which were nice and firm and tasty. The cons? Even with 500mL of water and two eggs, the broth was salty – overly salty. I’m not one who usually finds broth to be salty- but this one sure is.  Giving this one 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. Find it here.

#406: Vifon Beef Flavor Mi Bo Asian Style Instant Noodles

So the other Vifon Asian Styleys have been great so far – so let’s see how this one fares. I like how their packaging for this line of products is nice and colorful.

Yeah – soup base and seasoned oil! Didn’t really have to tell you that, did I?

Some interesting looking stuff. A good amount of powder with some veg bits in it.

Click image to enlarge. Added two fried eggs, a little garlic salt and some Amanfopong natural chili powder. The noodles were firm – just perfect and right! The broth was reasonably thick and tasty, and the veggies, although limited. Great stuff! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars! Find it here.

#398: Paldo Bowl Noodle Soup Beef Flavor with Vegetable Instant Noodle Soup

So here’s perhaps the last or maybe next to last of the Paldo Bowl Noodle Soup line. These have been really good!

Gomtang? Hmm… I reviewed a Paldo noodle a long long time ago called Gomtang – here is the review. In the review, I mention how it tastes beefy… Hmm…

Very light seasoning – again looking identical in the Gomtang review. The veggies are abundant, however!

Click image to enlarge. Two fried eggs were added. This stuff is excellent – no wonder the little artificial flavor cow is smiling! Noodles were like chicken noodle soup noodles which is funny as I don’t come across that often and the last review I did had this kind of noodle too. The broth was tasty – a little salty though, and the veggies were everywhere. Some good stuff. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Okay first off, the high holy noodle video…

381: Saigon Ve Wong Kung-Fu Artificial Beef Flavor Vietnam Flavor

So I’ve reviewed quite a few of these so had to look to make sure I hadn’t already! But nope not yet so here we go!

Three packets – powder soup, seasoned oil and veggies and TVP meat! TVP is textured vegetable protein. It’s some amazing stuff!

Done well, TVP can be really nice – you can see the funky bits in with the veggies.

Click image to enlarge. Added two fried eggs and a little Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning. Shazam! Wow very tasty! The noodles were just right and the broth was a little spicy but also nice and hearty. The Veggies were everywhere and the TVP meat bits were the best I’ve ever had – chewy and almost fatty! I really am quite impressed with this one! 4.25 out of 5.0 stars!

#375: Vifon Pho Bo An Lien Vietnamese Style Instant Rice Noodle Beef Flavour

So here’s something new but kind of like a lot of other stuff…

Clockwise from top: powdered soup base, veggies and seasoned oil.

Sitting atop the noodles block. Looks like some broad noodles.

Click image to enlarge. Okay so the noodles are kind of broad, yeah. The broth is quite greasy. The noodles are mushy. The veggies are there but not enough. It doesn’t taste like beef pho. 0.5 out of 5.0 stars. Bummer, Vifon! Find it here.

#329: Mee-Jang Artificial Beef Flavor Instant Noodles

Here’s another Namchow Mee-Jang variety, this time its artificial beef. So far, these have been pretty good.

Two packets – seasoned oil on the left and powder on the right. The yellow powder packet usually smells and tastes like curry…

Strangely enough, the powdered seasoning on the right tasted like masala; seemed funny for something beef flavored. The seasoning oil is on the left and both ride the block of noodles awaiting a hot bath and one fried egg.

Click image to enlarge. Finished product, again with a fried egg. First though here is wow spicy! Didn’t expect that. The noodles are good and the broth is flavorful – spicy yet flavorful. Well rounded bowl of noodles – 3.5 out of 5.0. A bit more veggies would have been nice.

No Namchow commercial so here’s a different Thai commercial – pretty good one!

Some nice music.

#302: Samyang Bowl Noodle Soup Yukgaejang Ramen Picante Beef Flavor

Well, I’d sworn I’d had this before but nope! That was the Nongshim stuff. Curious if this stuff is as good…

A single packet of powder…

A lovely deep red color – very nice to see!

Click image to enlarge. Added one fried egg and a pinch of Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning. So this stuff’s great – adding an egg makes it nice and tasty too. Decent heat, noodles are good and broth is red! Also, spied a couple little pieces of that spiral naruto stuff at the bottom of the bowl and they were good and fun to look at. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.

#290: Doll Instant Noodle Spicy Artificial Beef Flavour

So recently I reviewed the pickled vegetable and the chicken Doll noodles and they were excellent. Spicy beef is hopefully as good.

Two packets – powder and sauce.

Doesn’t look too crazy…

Click image to enlarge. Two eggs boiled with the noodles. So not too bad but not mind blowing like the chicken was. I like the spicy beef flavor and the noodles are top notch, but its a very fake beef flavor that doesn’t rate with me. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars.Wasn’t spicy by any stretch of the imagination either. Get some here.

#277: Vina Acecook Oh! Ricey Instant Phở Bò Rice Noodles Soup Beef Flavour

Here’s the last of the Vina Acecook stuff I got from HT Oaktree Market a few weeks ago (sniff). Overall, I’ve been really really pleased with the Vina Acecook line and hope to sample more very soon! So here’s the beef Pho…

Clockwise from top – powder soup base, veggies, flavored oil.

Set it all on top of the noodle brick in the bowl, put 400cc of water in with it and cover for a few minutes. Actually, I’ve been using a record lately – a 12″ maxi single of Tower of Power’s “Lovin’ You Is Gonna See Me Thru” – part of the Columbia Disco Series… It even says demo – not for sale! But it serves well to cover my noodles.

Final product (click image to enlarge). So we’ll start with the broth. The broth is probably the most important thing here; it’s what Pho is really all about. I’m quite pleased with this broth actually – it has a slight sweet basil taste and some beef hints and is rather complex. It isn’t as good as the local Pho, but it’s not too shabby. The rice noodles are great – they’re separate and tasty. There are also little bits of fake beef! I love crap like that. So all in all, a really decent thing to be beheld. I give it 4.0 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.
