#1554: ICA Asia Fast Noodles Snabbnudlar Räksmak

Here’s another one that was sent by a kind reader in Sweden – thanks! This is my second or third Swedish instant noodle. It’s been interesting to translate the packaging too. The little dots over the ‘a’ in Räksmak are interesting. I tried it in Google and without the dots got straight flavor, and with them got shrimp flavor. Of course, once I opened the pack I found that the seasoning sachet said ‘prawn flavor,’ so that kind of sealed the deal on correct translation for me. Anyways, let’s have a look at this one!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). To prepare, add noodle block to 5dl (500ml) or boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add in contents of sachet and stir. Enjoy!

The noodle block.

The soup base sachet.

An almost fluffy powder with a light prawn scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added prawns, sweet onion and sliced spring onion. The noodles are unique – flat and a little broad. Also, they are slightly thicker than most too. They have a nice texture to them, although not very chewy. The broth has a prawn flavor to it 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 7318690029564.

A Concise History of Sweden (Cambridge Concise Histories) – (from Amazon) Neil Kent’s book sweeps through Sweden’s history from the Stone Age to the present day. Early coverage includes Viking hegemony, the Scandinavian Union, the Reformation and Sweden’s political zenith as Europe’s greatest superpower in the seventeenth century, while later chapters explore the Swedish Enlightenment, royal absolutism, the commitment to military neutrality and Pan-Scandinavianism. The author brings his account up to date by focusing on more recent developments: the rise of Social Democracy, the establishment of the welfare state, the country’s acceptance of membership in the European Union and its progressive ecological programme. The book successfully combines the politics, economics and social and cultural mores of one of the world’s most successfully functioning and humane societies. This is an informative and entertaining account for students and general readers.

So ICA (pronounced ‘eek-ka’) is a Swedish supermarket chain. This is a great spoof commercial they made in 2014.
