#1115: Nissin Pan Asian Kitchen Sukiyaki Beef Flavor Savory Soy Sauce Ramen Noodles

Here’s another one sent by Scott over at Nissin USA – thanks! Some may be wondering what sukiyaki is – here’s what Wikipedia had to say:

Sukiyaki (鋤焼?, or more commonly すき焼き) is a Japanese dish, of the soup or stew type, prepared and served in the nabemono (Japanese hot pot) style.

It consists of meat (usually thinly sliced beef) which is slowly cooked or simmered at the table, alongside vegetables and other ingredients, in a shallow iron pot in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. Before being eaten, the ingredients are usually dipped in a small bowl of raw, beaten eggs.

Curious how this one will be – let’s check it out!

Here’s the bottom of the package (click image to enlarge). Contains wheat, soybean, egg and milk.

Under the wraps, this is what you see on top (click image to enlarge).

The noodle block.

The solid ingredients packet.

An interesting melange of bits.

The liquid seasoning packet.

Has a nice teriyaki-esque scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added beef, broccoli, red bell pepper and Vidalia sweet onions sauteed with a little Worcestershire sauce. The noodles are good – a slight crumble which works well. The flavor is interesting; it is quite sweet with notes of soy sauce throughout. The veggies and other bits hydrated well and give a nice little added texture. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
