#705: Golden Wheat Korean Style Beef Flavour Noodle Soup

Check it out – a new Golden Wheat! My sister brought this back from Canada for me for my birthday! Let’s check it out!

The little cups were in the dishwasher so went with the old method. Ready for some water and a spin.

Finished (click image to enlarge). I went with the microwave directions to see how it would do. It did gush over the top and yep – got a messy microwave. I put it in a bowl since everything looks nicer in a bowl! The noodles are very light – almost timid. I could see them working well in the cup. In a bowl, they’re nice – kind of like a light rice noodle but made from wheat flour. The flavor is nice as well – great sweet beef flavor you might expect at a Chinese restaurant. The veggies weren’t amazing, but I really enjoyed all of the sesame seeds everywhere. Pretty great stuff! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.UPC barcode  6921555586228 .

  1. Thing is, if you use the drop down and look at the JML stuff, it’s the same looking logo – I don’t really get it…

    Do you mean that the Chinese words are the same horizontally and vertically? Chinese words could be written either way (so when Chinese are reading, they nod their heads!).

  2. JML is the initials of the 3 Chinese words – 今麦郎Jin Mai Lang.
    On the paste packet the two words beside 今麦郎is弹面Tan Mian, which means chewy (the better one would be al dente) noodles. In Chinese we also describe such noodles as QQ弹牙Tan Ya [ya = teeth], meaning the noodles are so chewy they bounce back from your teeth!

    So are the noodles chewy? 🙂
