#401: Myojo Suudon-Desse Soy Sauce Flavor Japanese Style Soup Noodles

So some of the comments I’ve received lately have been from folks who really liked Maruchan Kitsune Udon bowls. Unfortunately, those aren’t being produced anymore, at least for the USA. So I thought maybe to begin the 400’s here we’d look at a couple of Myojo’s bowls which I’ve found to be quite good.

A single packet which contains both powder and dehydrated ingredients.

Here’s the stuff on top of the noodle block awaiting some boiling water.

To start out the 400’s I thought it was a good time to switch records. I use a record to cover a bowl instead of using the half open flap method. I keep them all in a binder so I don’t want them to get nasty. Here’s an album by Bay Area band The Sons of Champlin.

I must say that I felt that this one was a little expensive, as are all the ones of this style I’ve seen. One packet, not a ton of noodles… $2.49 usually at a nice Asian grocery. But this stuff is excellent. The flavor is very nice – good soy sauce flavor greets the palate through the broth and through the noodles. These aren’t bad noodles either – broad and with a strong ethical and moral base! They’re chewy and the bit and pieces! There’s some corn and some possible fried tofu going on in there for you Kitsune Udon fans. Sumptuous! 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.
