#2133: Nissin Kimchi Chikin Ramen Donburi

I’m not exactly sure what Hiyoko-Chan is saying on the front here, but I do know that this one’s kimchi flavor. This is a cousin of the one I reviewed for my 2000th review earlier this year. Shall we crack it open and look inside? Let’s do it!

Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Unsure whether it contains meat but probably does. to prepare, add boiling water to fill line along with contents of green sachet. Let steep for 3 minutes. Add in contents of liquid sachet. Stir and enjoy!

Wow – a lot going on in here!

The liquid sachet.

An oil with a kimchi scent.

Finished (click to enlarge). The noodles hydrated very nicely – thin and flat as you would find in standard Chikin Ramen. The broth is a little different – oilier and with a bit of spiciness from the liquid sachet. The bit of kimchi in this are bigger than most I’ve found in instant noodle products from South Korea! That was a little bit of a surprise! Spring onion and an abundant crop of little pieces of scrambled egg round out the scene. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4902105233061.

  1. Hans, do you know you can automatically translate text on ramen packages with the Google Translate app? Just select a language, take a picture, select the text you want and then translate. It doesn’t always work, especially with highly stylized fonts, but it helps. Here, Hiyoko-Chan is saying, “It has spicy kimchi!”
