#1805: MAMA Oriental Style Instant Noodles Tandoori Flavour

Here’s another one that the nice folks at Thai President Foods in Thailand sent me after my trip in May. These are made in Bangladesh by their factory there! Tandoori flavor though – what’s that? Wikipedia had this to say:

Tandoori masala is a mixture of spices specifically for use with a tandoor, or clay oven, in traditional north Indian and Pakistani cooking. The specific spices vary somewhat from one region to another, but typically include garam masala, garlic, ginger, onion, cayenne pepper, and may include other spices and additives. The spices are often ground together with a pestle and mortar.

Tandoori masala is used extensively with dishes as tandoori chicken. In this dish, the chicken is covered with a mixture of plain yogurt and tandoori masala. The chicken is then roasted in the tandoor at very high heat. The chicken prepared in this fashion has a pink-colored exterior and a savory flavor.

Sounds good to me – let’s check this one out!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add noodle block and seasonings to 210ml boiling water and cover for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy.

The noodle block.

The soup base sachet.

Has a kind of spicy masala scent to it along with notes of other spices.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added fried chicken, coriander, spring onion, chilli peppers and Shark Brand sriracha chili sauce on the chicken. The noodles are flat and just slightly broad. They have a nice texture and chew to them – light and nice. The flavor is spicy with a touch of almost smoky flavor and layered herbs. It works very well. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.  EAN bar code 8941181000170.
