Re-Review: Nongshim Potato Noodle Soup

I’ve been wanting to re-review this one for a while, and so here we are. Potato noodles! Chewy! Let’s check it out.

Here’s the back of the packaging (click image to enlarge).

A pretty massive block of noodles! Taste pretty good raw.

The powder seasoning.

Smells good!

A big veggie packet.

Interesting…

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some kimchi, baked chicken, sweet onion and an egg. The noodles are indeed chewier than the normal Nongshim package noodles. They’re also slightly gelatinous like bean thread. They’re quite good though and unique. The broth is light – and tasty. Not really spicy; more of a vegetable broth. The veggies taste nice too. Good stuff! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 031146157792.

Here’s a South Korean commercial for Potato Noodles!

  1. Unfortunately it seems they changed the veggie packet recently. There’s no more garlic or chili peppers. The taste is still the same though.

  2. I recently tried Nongshim’s Potato Noodle Soup. It immediately became my favorite noodle. I have only found it in Korean specialty stores like H-Mart. I just bought 20 packages at .99 on sale. I find you have to cook it less than the package says. Maximum about 2-3 minutes. If you overcook they become too soft and loose the chewiness. I like both the taste of the noodle and the wonderful chewy texture. I normally use very little of the seasoning packets. This one has a nice flavour and not too spicey. I am not sure what the flavour is. I cook the noodles in about 1 1/2 cups water but then drain 2/3 of that off before adding the sesonings. That way the focus is the noodles with a little broth and not really a soup. I highly recommend this one. It is very different than most noodles which are majority wheat based. As always I add green onion and whatever else I have around. This is worth going out of your way to find.
