#948: Trident Hot & Spicy 2 Minute Noodles

Hey check this out! This is the first ever package of instant noodles I’ve reviewed from Australia! Thanks go to Melanie I. of Jannali, NSW for sending these and also thanks to Mark K. for getting her to do it! This is an interesting pack – let’s check it out!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). I really like how in the lower left corner it tells you to “Beware – chili powder is very hot.” A spiciness warning on a pack of noodles that isn’t from Korea! Wow!

The noodle block. On the pack they call it a ‘cake.’

The dry seasoning powder.

Interesting – has a sweet and citrussy flavor to it – I did notice that it says this stuff was made in Thailand for Trident – I wonder if this will be Tom Yum like?

Seasoned oil eh?

Looks more like a paste to me – has a definitespiciness and yet a little more citrus hints.

Finally, we have the one we were told to beware – the chili powder packet. It’s actually much smaller than the other two.

A little taste and… bah – you call that hot? Actually, yes it is pretty hot and – wow it kind of creeps up on you! Okay yeah this is spicy chili powder!

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added onion, green bell pepper, ham with some Apinya Thai Chili sauce on top (check it out here), and a sprinkle of Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles were good – what you’d expect in a pack of instant noodles. The broth was excellent and as I expected, it was full of heat and citrus and definitely a Tom Yum flavor. Great stuff – 3.5 out of 5.0 stars! I also want to mention the hot sauce. Apinya sent me a sample the other day and I’ve really fallen for this amazing concoction! It blends the heat of peppers and the crisp depth of ginger in a great way – it’s definitely a premium hot sauce and if I were still running The Sauce Rater, it would get 5.0/5.0 hot peppers! UPC bar code 9310182300012 .

Couldn’t find much on YouTube about this brand but here’s a train going by in JAnnali, NSW Australia!

  1. Hi!!
Just came across this review. I’m an Aussie living in the U.S. I really miss these noodles! I was hoping if you could recommend something here in the U.s that has similar tastes =)
    Have a noodlely day =D

    1. Ash bee –

Hmmm… It’s been a long time but I think I would say perhaps find Nissin Demae Ramen from Hong Kong – try the spicy one. It’s got a powder seasoning and an oil. It does not have the cayenne pepper, however any pepper powder like that should work fine.

Let me know if this helps!
