#514: Shirakiku Sanukiya Fresh Spicy Ramen Japanese Style Fresh Noodle

Haven’t had a fresh noodle bowl in a while. This one comes from Shirakiku and claims to be a hot one. It definitely looks nice on the packaging. I’m still under the weather so the spicy stuff helps with the sinuses!

Here we have the noodles, veggies and powder seasoning packets. The red packets are ominous! Tread here if you like heat!

Here’s the ingredients and noodles in the bowl. This one is microwaveable and I don’t see any instructions on cooking it otherwise. So fill it up to the lines and microwave for two minutes. In the past, I’ve put the lid back on it but that was a mistake as it popped off and made a mess.

So the noodles are fresh but really not all that impressed by them – they’re not bad but they’re just not that special. I think I like Ottogi better to be honest. Anyways, the veggies are great! Tons of them. The broth was hearty and deep – and spicy! But not just a bang bang heat but more of a complex multileveled heat – like spicy V-8 with more kick than that. I liked it. My main complaint would be that it’d be just as good with an instant noodle block I think. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars.

  1. Looks yummy! The noodles like awfully a lot like “annie chuns” ramen house series. So much so, i wouldnt be surprised if some of these places get it from the same factory.

Also, sometimes its hard to tell how big these ramen bowls are. Would you consider putting a coin or some form of perspective in when you take the picture? Sometimes i’ll see a ramen bowl you reviewed and it was a completely different size then I had imagined. Kinda weird how perspective works.

    1. Yeah I know what you mean on the perspective thing. I could just do side shots I dunno… Depends on the day, the label and my mood. As far as putting something else in the shot, can’t do that. Just the noodles – always about the noodles.
