#151: Shirakiku Tokusen Miso Ramen Japanese Style Noodles

So here’s another Shirakiku. I’ve enjoyed a lot of their products – most memorably their kizami shoga. This will be the second of their instant noodle line I will review. Here we go!

One good sized packet of powdery stuff…

There is awaits the pain bath…

Click image to enlarge. My first thoughts were kind of sad. It looked so boring and uninteresting. Miso isn’t the most interesting flavor. But I was really hungry and so I went and added an egg to it.

Fried, of course. Now this definitely helped a lot. The noodles weren’t very firm and the broth was pretty good; salty and had a miso taste. It was very average. 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. I liked it much better after the egg was added – in that case it rises to a 3.5 stars, but I’m only giving it 2.5 in its package directed state. I’ll be nice and split the difference. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars for Shirakiku’s miso ramen.

  1. I -d0- like this flavor. As a matter of fact I attribute my being burned out on cheap ramen to the fact that I’ve had this stuff and it’s so much better than the stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart for 29 cents.

Can’t wait to get more, but I can never find it local, and many of online stores I’ve looked at want to tack on 2-3x the cost of each pack to ship it. And I can’t justify the trip to Mitsuwa Marketplace in Chicago (from Kansas City) to buy it there.
